The New York Preparatory Academy
The New York Preparatory Academy is a private online school for grades 7-12 aims to inspire students to excel by tapping technology and innovation in education. We cultivate our students to become global leaders in the AI era and to make the world a better place.
We connect students’ passions with personalized academics, using the best in educational technology enhanced with passion, purpose, perseverance, and personalization to meet the demands of today’s generation.
We provide students with academic excellence combined with award-winning leadership program from the US. The New York Preparatory Academy molds our innovative academics and character and leadership programs to fit students' needs. Courses are taught both synchronously and asynchronously, with master teachers and teacher/coaches providing students the ultimate in personalization and flexibility. It’s tech-inspired teaching and innovative programming in a fully accredited learning ecosystem.
Students can choose to study full time and receive US high school diploma after they meet our requirements. They can also choose to take 1 to 3 courses each school year and receive certificate and school report.

With a blended learning approach that incorporates technology and innovation, partnerships with distinguished industry experts, and a variety of curriculum components, we put real-world context to content.
NYPA curriculum design is predicated upon the principles of the Understanding by Design framework (Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe). Student outcomes are driven by the concept of “enduring understandings”—where knowledge is applied to new constructs, thereby creating a lasting understanding of skills and knowledge sets.
A typical course is separated into “units of mastery;” each student moves through each unit at their own pace. Our master teachers create overarching units of study with scopes and sequences designed to follow a distinct and innovative learning pathway.

Our forward-looking approach is rooted in blended learning, where students pair the latest technologies with proven online learning strategies.With our expertise in online learning 2.0 — a vast improvement from the isolated, robotic approach of online learning 1.0 — the NYPA experience is bespoke, designed to engage students in the pursuits they're most passionate about, with individualized attention and custom personalization.
The NYPA principles of learning and student growth are based upon the concept of personalization and empathy for each individual student. We support and guide students as they work their way from the fundamental stage of their individual passion through mastery, balancing IQ with EQ.
Accredited Curriculum
We utilize and augment Common Core and California state standards and requirements through a UBD approach to learning. We offer a host of engaging courses for students in grades 7-12. Courses draw on real-life experiences, offer a global perspective, and help both students who want to leap forward or just catch up.
Our course structure allows considerable flexibility. Our curriculum permits each student to plan an individual program of study that takes into account personal passions and educational goals consistent with unique interests, prior experiences, and future ambitions. We strive to provide students with an education that provides both breadth and depth of knowledge in a wide variety of essential subjects. Within the limitations of requirements, students may also freely choose elective courses that play a special role in tailoring a student’s course schedule to their particular passions and interests.
Leadership
Our leadership program starts with orientation where students learn about how to blend their passion with purpose and academics. We focus on: personal accountability and self awareness, peer leadership, empathy, collaboration, resilience, and communication skills.
We partner with world champions and other industry experts to share their experiences and help deliver advice and guidance to all of our students.We feel that students learn best from the people that they are striving to become and emulate!
